Their story. The Miracle. How could I pick any other image?

WARNING: GRAB THE TISSUE BOX....

Before I can gush about one of the sweetest 5 week olds I have ever met I must rewind.

His Mommy and Daddy have one of the sweetest love stories to date. And his name sake, yes that's an awesome part of the story too.

A few years back Elliott (Joseph's Dad) and his friend Joe were over seas on a deployment. Joe's wife was back home expecting her 2nd child when she got the news that both Joe and Elliott had sustained major injuries in combat. Once they were back in the States, Joe's 2nd child was born and I am sure with great love and pride, they named him Elliott.

Months later, working hard in physical therapy rehab, Elliott met April, his Physical Therapist. Elliott transferred to a rehab center out of state, but the time that April and Elliott spent together had blossomed into something more. A year later they were engaged and the rest is history.

5 weeks ago Elliott and April welcomed little Joseph, named after his friend Joe. These two families share a bond only few could ever understand. Two buddies brought close by such tragedy, love and an enduring commitment to each other. I can only imagine the conversations as their kids grow..."my Dad saved your Dad's life." How many kids can say that?

Christmas in July!!

As a Mother myself, I know that the Holidays come way too fast every year and all of a sudden its January and those family portraits never got taken. I am left yet again sending out generic cards I bought in bulk at Target. I think to myself: Next year I am going to plan better and send out gorgeous pictures of my kids and of us, so my family can actually see how big they are getting and our happy smiles.

We only live once. In this business I am reminded all too often how fast our little ones grow. I am doing newborn shoots and then all of a sudden I am taking their 1 year birthday portraits and then family beach sessions. They grow in the blink of an eye. I want to capture these moments because a year from now you will wonder where the time went.

I am beyond thrilled that I was a featured Photographer over on Inspire Me Baby this last week! This session was so much fun and I loved the post processing I did. As a Photographer I love to challenge myself. It's how I grow and learn. It's the reason I love what I am doing and the direction Kristen Vincent Photographer is headed.

I was beyond thrilled when I found out Jenna had started her own dance company in the San Diego Area. Jenna was my own daughters dance teacher up north before either one of us relocated to SD. My little girl spent many hours dancing with Miss Jenna and is now on her 8th year of dance!

It is so amazing and uplifting to see a whole new group of dancers be so excited and inspired about dancing at IMDPA. Great job Jenna and Congrats to all the dancers on a beautiful dance recital! It was truly a joy to see so many young faces so excited about their very first dance performance. Their joy was so very evident as they grinned for my camera.

At the ripe age of 4 months old, Hayden has been blogged 3 times! I love being able to capture the newest addition to our family and couldn't be more delighted to be his Auntie K. Little Ethan just couldn't wait to make his big debut, arriving a few weeks early and making quite the entrance for those L & D nurses! Just ask him Mom Jennie. She makes delivery sound like just another day, no big deal.

I was thankful for her calm spirit during his photo session because this adorable guy decided this was the day he would have his most alert moment in his young little life. After a very full tummy and lots of rocking and heater running he was finally asleep.

Meet Crickey, the tiger salamander we have had for 5+ years. Named by my son who was 2 at that time. The reason? He eats crickets. OK then, it's been his name ever since. We love him and although we can't play with him and he can't jump on my lap and cuddle up while watching my favorite show he is one awesome pet.

I'm not sure that he has 9 lives or if he is mans best friends...but I can assure you he is my son's favorite animal ever!!

Yep, you read that right. I am pretty sure her awesome parents were referring to a dance move. A few times during the session Mia would stretch. Then her tippy toes would point and this quick shake from her hips down would commence. Her doting parents look at her and then turn to each other... "Booty Quake!"

The fact that they have only been parents for 10 days and are already completely in tune with their precious daughter makes me smile. She is one lucky little girl. I am just wondering which side of the gene pool this talent comes from...

Mia & Raelee {San Luis Obispo Family Photographer}

I am so happy to share 3 month old Mia and her big sister Raelee with you all. I had the pleasure of spending time with Raelee this past summer for her own photo session and was over the moon when I heard the exciting news that Mom was expecting baby #2.

Arriving on 1-1-11, Mia started this new year off with excitement and anticipation for lots of firsts. What a doll! She is full of smiles upon meeting any new face. And in between clothing changes, Big Sister was able to get a few of her own close ups! What can I say....She LOVES my camera!

Next month I will get the whole family in front of my lens. So much fun to watch a family grow.

I have been looking forward to this shoot for several months. While the weather didn't fully cooperate, I think we can all agree that the pictures are amazing non the less!

I have known Kathleen and Wes since my high school days. Yes, I said high school! If my math is right they have been at each others sides for 13 years. That alone is amazing. AND they have 2 of the cutest kids, Bella and Bryce.

Bella is definitely the star of this show, and Bryce....well Bryce is like any baby boy. He wants to get down on the ground and play. And by play I mean but everything in his mouth.

What I joy to see this couple 10+ years later and 2 children in tow. The cloudy skies provided some sweet light on their lovely faces.

The entire shoot was planned about 15 minutes before this image was captured and everything about this shoot was exactly what this expectant couple desired. Yes, her face is blown out by the intense light, but the feeling of this image is perfect in every way. I love the way it draws the eye right to the amazing baby bump!

Meet Hayden. He is 6 days old today. His parents are AWESOME.

Now let me give you the back story.

I met Mollie & Justin almost 3 years ago when I was up in Seattle for their wedding. Mollie was this energetic, confident and outgoing girl. The ones I get along with right away. Actually, there is no not liking her. Justin was kind, soft spoken and you could tell my a glance in his future wife’s direction he couldn’t take his eyes off of her.
I attended their wedding with my boyfriend at the time. NOW my husband. SO I get to have these two love birds in my life for a very long time.

The moment I found out they were expecting thier first born I was giddy with anticipation. If you have seen these two there is no way their baby would not be down right gorgeous!

Now lets get this straight. By no means was this pregnancy easy for Mollie and Justin. A few scares along the way and one stubborn little Hayden who didn’t want to budge from the womb. He FINALLY made his grand entrance, (7 days late,) at a whopping 9lb2oz!

Being a Newborn Photographer I have seen plenty of brand new first time parents that have only been home with their precious baby for less then 24 hours. On my way to their place I wondered how their first night home had gone.

And then I saw them. All three of them. Confident, proud and in love…just like the day I met them.

Congratulations to Mollie and Justin. Hayden is lucky to have you both as parents.

This weeks challenge made me perk up. I love to mix things up and I try to capture a special moment during a session with my cell phone. Not because it the most amazing picture quality, but because its a moment that should be remembered. As a photographer it is easy to get caught up in the technical aspects of the camera and editing. I love to remember that what I am doing is creating a memory to look back on at a later time with fondness. This lovely moment was the first picture of a brand new mother and her precious baby girl. Look at that proud smile...perfect! (Captured by my iPhone with Shake it camera app.)

Being that I am a newborn fine art photographer, I couldn't pass up this weeks Fix it Friday. I honestly have not participated in one yet, but love mentoring and sharing my work with other photographers! All editing was done in photoshop. I used lots of levels, blending and a little sharpening.

Paloma...

She is full of energy, vibrant and has this light in her eyes that shines from within. Her smile is something you know she could use to get out of any wrong doing with her Father. It is almost as if you can hear her giggle just with a glimpse of this portrait.

She is what we all hope for in this New Year. Full of hope and living in the present. Just soaking up every minute of it.

She is what I hope my photography shows. Pure and bright.

DeAnna and I went to nursing school, it's almost the toughest thing I have been through and we created quite the bond. Ross is hilarious and after spending most of my down time with his wife we have become pretty close. Kendyl is one of the cutest little ones I know! I was at the hospital when she was born and was beaming as DeAnna held her in her arms.

So YES, this family is AMAZING and I love them to pieces!!!

As an Emergency Room Nurse I have witnessed so much love, courage and strength through the lives of my patients fighting for their lives. Fighting to live long enough to see their daughter walk down the aisle. Fighting to finish living and sharing their love for life with their loved ones. I have been blessed by knowing them and am proud to have helped in some small way.

I can't describe how excited I have been for this shoot!

Cristina is a dear friend whom I met while taking my kids to satisfy my addiction of frozen yogurt a few years back. She was so personable and great with my kids. I asked the shop owner about her and he recommended her for a "Nanny" type job. Cristina then cared for my children for a year, while I worked nights as an ER Nurse. She was such a great fit with my kids and I knew one day she would make an amazing mother.

The day I found out she was expecting was the day I started counting down for this shoot!

As you can see in the pictures, she is up for anything and so much fun. So happy to have spent the afternoon with such a dear friend and to capture that beautiful glow that comes with expecting your first born.

Thank you Cristina, you are truly a beautiful woman.

What a FUN family shoot in Avila Beach, CA yesterday.

Earl and Dawn have been together for over 11 years and it is obvious they are still very much in love. Tre is such a happy little 2 year old and was excited about almost everything...except walking on the pier. Like most 2 year olds, he was SURE that those little 1/2 inch cracks in the pier where going to open wide up and we would all fall to the water below. I love the minds of little kids!

As I walked into her room where the shoot took place, there was no denying this princess was already being pampered like any princess should be. I think I have found my favorite place to shoot in San Diego~ Spanish Village inside Balboa Park. There are bright colored flooring, benches, doorways and arches.

LuAnn and Adam welcomed William into the world 3 months ago and he is such a little cutie. I am SUCH a sucker for a baby with multiple rolls! Their dog Gunner was a great addition to the shoot and I loved the one of William trying to roll onto Gunner:)

I met Raelee back when she was a baby in here Mommy's arms, at a mutual friends baby shower. It's been about 19 months since then and just look at all the personality that has blossomed from her.

She had me going a mile a minute, which I tend to expect with a toddler photoshoot. What I didn't expect was the one liners she was throwing my way and the fact that she wanted to be holding MY hand the entire shoot. (If proves difficult to photograph a person who INSISTS on holding your hand.)

She is so adorable and full of energy.

At the end of the shoot when I was getting something from my car she asked if she was going with me~ TOO cute!

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this shoot! The family, the location...everything.

Looking through a camera lens seems to open up the raw emotions of a families love...This session was no different! As I was setting up the kids in the vineyard, I asked Carley and Frank to step back so I could capture a few pictures of just the kids. As my shutter starts snapping away, they naturally go into the background. Without them knowing they are even in the photo, Carley and Frank embrace...after nearly 10 years, you'd think they were newlyweds~ What a perfect glimpse into their life.

I had so much fun doing this families session~ they are so much fun. LOVED it even more when they were up for anything, including group piggyback rides down the street.

A BIG thank you to Brittany, Holly and Danielle at Tolosa Vineyards for letting us run around the beautiful grounds. The setting is perfect for just about any kind of photo session imaginable. The lavender is in full bloom, the vines are growing...need I say more?

Most maternity shoots are done with the Husband carefully embracing his expectant wife~ Not this shoot. With Sarah and I both in the San Luis Obispo area visiting family, it was just her and I. So of course we took total advantage and let the shoot unfold with no real plan. Just 2 sites and lots of clothes.

Meet Sarah~ A bright, cheery, down to earth woman with love for life and family. She was such a joy to shoot and was up for just about anything, (which I LOVED.)

After doing some indoor shooting we headed outdoors. (After meeting the farmer of this huge field earlier in the day.) As soon as we arrived his cattle dog came from out of nowhere. Friendly but curious, he hung out with us for awhile as we started to shoot.

The warmth of the sky, the big open field and Sarah expecting her 2nd little miracle~ Enjoy.

Leilani is by far all that is little girl. She is precious, doesn't like to wear tights, won't touch the grass and how dare you try to put her in a swing. Once she is perched nicely on a soft white blanket in the shade with 3 adults attempting to make her laugh...well lets just say this little one knows how to turn on the charm!

Ethan her big brother showed her what its like to get a little dirty towards the end of the shoot, and she LOVED it!

Tyler's 2nd Birthday Photoshoot!

I often wonder how so much cuteness can be packed into someone so small? If you've never wondered this before...just scroll down a bit and you'll see exactly what I am talking about!

Tyler is ALL boy~ Running, jumping in puddles, throwing balls and more running...needless to say I was worn out by the end of it, but had an amazing morning with this handsome little man. His spirit is so happy, content and full of love. It is obvious he is one loved little boy:)

Luke "The Mad Scientist" turns 6!

This was a birthday party like no other~ Trampoline jumping with Grandma, losing his 2nd tooth, science experiments, exploding soda, steaming volcano cake, the making of "snot" and "blood"...Luke was in 6 year old BLISS!

A Winter Wedding in May!

What an AMAZING setting! Ryan & Rebecca shared their vows with each other in front of family and friends in one of the most beautiful places~ Lake Tahoe.

However, the wedding had to change from an outdoor wedding to an indoor wedding due to the SNOW & 30 degree temp!

As you will see it was a perfect day none the less.

Ryan's emotion as my sister walked down the isle said it all....they are perfect together. Rebecca was breathtakingly beautiful...of course!

What a perfect day.

Outdoor Adventure

My daughter was invited to a friends 10th birthday and I decided to tag along and take some pictures. I told her that I didn't have to stay but she reassured me~ "You're cool Mom...you can stay." At this age it's getting to the ify part and soon she will ask me to drop her off for school down the street. I am thankful for this time that I am still "cool"...We'll see how long that lasts!

Coming into photography I thought for sure I would lean more towards engagement sessions...but every time I see a newborn my hurt strings pull and I yearn to photograph their precious new face.

Daniel is THE most wide awake newborn I have ever come across. Just shy of 3 weeks old he was awake the whole session~ despite having a full tummy and the heater on blast. I guess he was aware that he may miss something~ with 3 older siblings running around~ He just sat there and took it all in.

While Mom attempted to get little Daniel back to sleep, I took advantage of the other 3 blue eyed children running about...Thank you for allowing me to spend some time with you and your beautiful family!

Our Feathered Friend

My love affair with Peacocks started when my husband and I were dating and went to the San Diego Zoo. The kids were so thrilled to see them roaming freely. The peacock then became a theme of ours~ our first family outing, our first Christmas ornament and then we got married at a fabulous venue in Arroyo Grande, CA~ Peacock Farms...and yes~ our invites had peacocks on them:) So it was only fitting that I incorporated it into my business logo!
